VE Day is Friday 8th May – so we (me and the 10 year old) shall be learning all about it at home this week. I thought I’d post the resources I find here – my guess is a lot of parents will be on the same sort of hunt!
Our first ‘lesson’ will be to watch the video from https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/history-ks2-ve-day/z7xtmfr. Then we’re using ‘Mr T does history’ enquiry activity https://www.mrtdoeshistory.com/75th-anniversary-ve-day (this includes a 30 minute PPT lesson from Mr T), and finishing up with making some VE Day bunting to hang outside on Friday.
I’m definitely throwing in Winston Churchill’s speech too https://winstonchurchill.org/resources/speeches/1941-1945-war-leader/to-v-e-crowds/
And I really like the veterans stories on https://ve-vjday75.gov.uk/veday/
