Why engineering?

Why engineeringAs part of its ‘Why Engineering?’ campaign, the University of Surrey commissioned the development of a curriculum resource to help pupils aged 11-14 recognise and understand the fundamental role engineering plays in our daily lives.

Working with the client to agree on a scenario for the learning materials we decided to use the context of ‘flood relief in the UK’ as a backdrop for pupils to apply their STEM skills. Then it was my job to pull together a small team of practising teachers to assist in the development of the activities and content, and brief the final resource to the client for its final production.

You can view the classroom resource here.
